This Tallow Balm will keep for years when refrigerated. At room temperature, it will develop a strong odor after around 6 months, but it is still good to use. Sometimes after a couple months or if exposed to warm temperatures, the balm becomes grainy. In this case, you can melt it in your oven at 120 to 150°F (49 to 56°C) and then place it in the refrigerator to solidify and gain a smoother texture.
*Tallow Balm consistancy may vary. Each batch of tallow has its own characteristics because it is a natural product. Sometimes it will be softer and other times it will be firmer.
Beef tallow consists of natural fat-soluble vitamins A, D, and K, in addition to vitamin E. These are only found in animal fats and are so important for not only skin health, but health in general. Tallow also has fats with anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties, such as conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), as well as fats with natural antimicrobial properties, such as palmitoleic acid.
